Hand-formed ceramic water jug - each piece is unique!
In the production of this unglazed ceramic jug, the use of glazes was deliberately avoided to ensure direct contact between the clay and the water. The resulting evaporation causes the vessel walls to cool. The water in the outer area of the jug experiences this cooling first. Its specific gravity increases and it sinks down the vessel wall. This leads to constant circulation of the vessel's contents. Thanks to a special firing process, the jugs are nevertheless 100% waterproof , and their contents are protected from light.
Ideally, the jugs should be filled with filtered tap water and allowed to stand for about two hours before drinking. A semiprecious stone can also be added if desired. The natural vibration of the jugs and any semiprecious stones keep the water alive. The water from the jugs tastes as fresh as spring water and stays nice and cool, even in summer temperatures. The jug should be cleaned once a month by filling it to the brim with boiling water. Afterward, the jug should be allowed to dry for one to two days. It can also be cleaned in the dishwasher, but do not use detergent.
Each of these water jugs is unique and handcrafted. Thanks to the natural material, they are highly decorative and fit into any home décor. When shaping them, the ceramist takes care to ensure the water sits within the jug like an egg. There are no sharp corners or edges that could impede the flow. This allows for the most even circulation of the contents and ensures even cooling. Even nature itself surprisingly often chooses the egg shape for storing liquids.
This product is handmade and may therefore vary in size. The stated capacity of 2 liters is approximate. Deviations from this and traces of manual processing are not grounds for complaint.
