TREMELLA FUCIFORMIS (SILVER TUBE)

Tramella, also known as the silver ear, is one of the most popular mushrooms in Chinese cuisine and tradition. Even its growth is full of fascinating peculiarities. Tremella fuciformis itself is actually a form of yeast and does not form fruiting bodies on its own. As a slimy substance, the yeast moves along until it encounters another fungus: its preferred host, Annulohypoxylon archeri. When these two encounter each other, the yeast penetrates the Annulohypoxylon, the cells fuse, and from this fusion, the growth of a completely new fungus, the silver ear, begins.
The mushroom is used in many soups in Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine, and is often included in cosmetic products as an anti-aging and beauty mushroom. This medicinal mushroom has a water-binding capacity many times higher than hyaluronic acid.
