The glow-in-the-dark bracelet charges in one hour with UV/black light; it may take longer in sunlight.
When you purchase a Deep Sea Abyssal bracelet, 4ocean and its volunteers remove 2.3 kilos of trash from the ocean and coastlines worldwide. You also help raise awareness for these majestic animals, to which this special bracelet is dedicated.
The deep sea remains one of the most remote and mysterious places on Earth. In all of human history, only 23 people have descended to the "Challenger Deep" in the Mariana Trench, which, with a maximum depth of approximately 11,000 meters below sea level, is the deepest part of the ocean known to mankind.
Each trip to the depths has discovered dozens of new and rarely seen marine species – and reminded us how little we know about our true impact on the marine environment. Our plastic waste has already been found in the Mariana Trench at a depth of 10,000 meters. One more reason for 4Ocean (and us) to continue our commitment.
The Deep Sea Abyssal bracelet represents your commitment to ocean conservation. Wear it as a reminder to curb your plastic habits, live a more sustainable lifestyle, and encourage others to take action to protect what they love.
4ocean volunteers collect plastic waste from the beach or fish it out of the water with nets. Where possible, the plastic waste is recycled on-site. The rest is taken to waste disposal facilities. 4ocean now operates in 16 countries and employs 150 people, including volunteers and many fishermen. The organization has also launched its own educational program to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic in the ocean. With each new bracelet, in addition to funding its own work, the organization also supports another environmental project!
4ocean founders Andrew Cooper and Alex Schulze came up with the idea when they were shocked to see how much plastic was floating in the ocean during a vacation in Bali. In just three years, the volunteers have already collected 5,000 tons – and more tons are being added every day...
