The upper section of the tank is lined with polyethylene. The separating membrane is made of butyl rubber. Since there is only a direct seal between the air and water sides inside the tank, and the pressure conditions are identical there, the risk of air leakage is very low. This problem is much greater with conventional tanks, which usually seal the air and water sides against the outside of the tank.
