Since summer 2024, the end caps of CARBONIT filter cartridges have been made of bioplastic – making them completely mineral oil-free!
The basis for these bioplastics is a polyamide derived from the oil of the castor bean plant. Castor bean grows primarily in dry areas that are unsuitable for other types of agriculture. Furthermore, the castor bean plant requires neither fertilizer nor irrigation. According to the manufacturer's calculations, the carbon footprint of this plastic is only half that of the production of conventional polyamides.
